  228.        This release of the IRIS ATM software has the following
  229.        limitations.

  231.           +o Each IRIS ATM-OC3c board simultaneously supports a
  232.             maximum of 39 transmit-only and 34 receive-only virtual
  233.             channels, or 34 bidirectional VCs (for example, 34 PVCs
  234.             in the _p_v_c._c_o_n_f file for IP traffic over port 0).
  235.  
  236.           +o Each IRIS ATM-OC3c 4Port XIO board simultaneously
  237.             supports a maximum of 64 transmit-only and 64 receive-
  238.             only virtual CBR channels, or 64 bidirectional CBR VCs.
  239.             The max number of bidirectional VC's is 256.
  240.  
  241.           +o The IRIS ATM driver does not support IP broadcast
  242.             addresses. This means that the ATM network interfaces
  243.             (_a_t_m_0, _a_t_m_1, etc.)  do not support BOOTP, NIS, RIP,
  244.             _t_i_m_e_d, _g_a_t_e_d, OSPF, and the multicast version of NTP
  245.             (which all use broadcast addresses as part of their
  246.             normal operation).

  248.           +o The IRIS ATM driver cannot function as the primary
  249.             interface on a system operating with the IP suite of
  250.             network protocols.

  252.           +o This release of IRIS ATM does not support the Raw
  253.             Network Family.  Applications that use the Snoop or
  254.             Drain protocols cannot run over the _a_t_m# interfaces.

  274.             does not support ADD_PARTY requests for that
  275.             connection.  Specifically, IRIS ATM accepts the initial
  276.             SETUP request that adds the system to a multicast call,
  277.             but does not support additional requests to add that
  278.             same system to the same call.

  280.           +o On Origin/Onyx2 systems, running a multiboard maximum
  281.             bandwidth system requires the use of node cards with a
  282.             Hub ver. 2.3 or higher.
